Energy Project Status

Our project has been slow to start due to struggles working with BCOS.  Initially we were going to update the BCOS STAR Report's energy section, by updating information and assessing the indicators used. There as a lack of accessible information for us to update the indicators, and after we have already conducted research and established recommendations for the STAR Report Indicators BCOS announced that they were going to chance their indicators to the ICLEI Indicators. So our updated STAR Report was forgone and we turned our focus onto the ICLEI Indicators. ICLEI stands for Local Governments for Sustainability.

Our current Energy Project Initiatives and Questions we plan to answer are listed below:

1.  Energy Inventory

2.  ECLEI review: setting targets.  This needs fleshing out.  Get to know ECLEI?  Which indicators can we address?

3.  How do other communities set targets and measure success? Are there communities with an energy plan for the future?  Communities that address peak oil?

4.  Recommendations to meet targets.  Grants. What is Duke willing to do?  Funding opportunities for renewable development, can possibly be broken down by energy source
